SPANISH BASQUE COAST TOUR
Accompanied by an experienced local guide, our Spanish Basque Coast tour will take you to discover quaint fishing villages, gorgeous coastline landscapes, beautiful sandy beaches and much more.
One of the highlights of the tour will be the island of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe which is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful corners of the Basque Country. Apart from becoming spellbound by the astonishing views of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and its surroundings, you will also learn about its intriguing past. And, if you are up for it, you can also climb all those steps (over 240 to be more exact) to get to the top!
Not far from San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, you will be able to admire the beauty of the Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve and, if time allows it, stop at the town of Bermeo, famous for its fishing tradition.
Our Spanish Basque Coast tour will continue and stop next in the town of Getaria which is famous for being the birth town of Juan Sebastian Elcano and Cristobal Balenciaga. You will be able to learn about both of them as well as about the town’s history from the guide. While wandering through the beautiful old town and port of Getaria, you will also have the opportunity to try the local white wine, txakoli.
Close to Getaria, the tour will make a short stop at the village of Zumaia, where you will be able to get some stunning views of a unique geologic rock formation called flysch. There are a few more surprises on the tour, but we don’t want to spoil them all for you.
At the end of this complete day discovering the Spanish Basque coast, you will be able to rest back at your hotel, where the guide will drop you off.
