FRENCH BASQUE
COUNTRY TOUR

The French Basque Country Tour will take you to discover the “French flavored” Basque Country, so similar but at the same time so different from the Spanish side. From a popular beach resort town that was the favorite of Napoleon’s wife, to charming little villages in the interior, we will make sure you experience the French Basque Country to the fullest.

After picking you up at your hotel in San Sebastian, the first stop will be Saint Jean de Luz, a beautiful coastal town with a very interesting history. While wandering through its streets you will also learn more about the time when it was home to the Basque Corsairs and when it was witness to a royal wedding that put an end to centuries of confrontations between Spain and France.

The next stop of the tour is Biarritz – a luxurious beach resort town, where chic mansions and restaurants live harmoniously with surfers and pizza joints. And only 8 km away, you will also visit the historic city of Bayonne, full of traditional Basque-French architecture and famous for its chocolate and ham.

Finally, if time allows for it, the tour will head into the interior, where the hanging Espelette peppers will welcome you and where you will visit the quaint little villages of Espelette and Ainhoa before making your way back to San Sebastian.
